Default Fix It Again Tomorrow!

Mk.1 Punto, Runs as if it is misfiring, but all leads and plugs are operating, Number 1 plug comes out wet sometimes.

Any ideas?

You say all the leads and plugs are operating, have you replaced them?
The fact that you have a spark on number 1 won’t preclude a misfire there. At the very least replace that lead and plug, if you haven’t already.
Does it misfire all the time, i.e. from cold and when warm? The fire engine is a little head gasket happy.
I assume it’s a single point injection engine, so a fuel related problem is unlikely.

Yes, i have replaced lead and plug, for numbers 1 and 2.
and the misfire is all the time.(It is not the fire engine) it is the SX EFi.

Oh the fire engine was so simple!

Number 1 seems to be wet every odd removal of plug.

If it’s a mark 1 SX 93-99, then it is a fire engine.
The fire comes in many guises including, 8v, 16v, carburetor, single point injection and multi point injection and is still a current engine in new Puntos and Pandas.
Perhaps you could give a bit more information?
Engine size, year, 8 valve or 16 valve, single point or multi point injection.
Does it misfire all the time, i.e. from cold and when warm?
It's one of three things: loss of spark; the air/fuel mixture is too far out of balance to ignite; or loss of compression.

Its a '96 Mk1 SX 8valve single injection.

Was running perfect at 120kmph (70 mph) on Motorway and suddenly started to misfire.

It is a Fire engine then, single point so it won’t be a fuel problem on only one cylinder other than due to a leaking inlet manifold, which is very unlikely.
So does it misfire all the time?
Have you carried out a compression test?
Is the plug wet with fuel or just wet?
Is the coolant level dropping/dropped?

The fire engine to me will always be the original.
(Carb & horizontilly opposed dist.on side of OHC.)

Misfires all the time since.
Have not carried out comp. test yet.
Wet with fuel only.
Coolant staying even-with no excessive pressure on cap.

Puntos they have two coil packs where the distributor was, swap them over and see if it moves the misfire.
If it’s the coil pack it should move the misfire from number1 to number2, although god only knows why it’s not missing on number 4 as well if it is.
Plus carry out a compression test of all four cylinders.

After changing coils, misfire does not change pots.

Got a vacuum on comp. test number 1.

Going to pull head tomorrow to take a look.
